Ta-da!

I can now make the official announcement…after several months of living together the lovely Mr W and I are now engaged,  we have booked the venue for April 26th 2010 and have now put the deposit down on our new house.  I can’t wait to move and begon our new life together…

Eek!

Well things are certainly ploughing along full force…I have now handed in my notice (woohoo!) which given what has developed in the past week I am so relieved about!  I have passed the first three modules of my course with flying colours…. 98/100, 97/100, 98/100 AND I have officially been offered and accepted a job in Hong Kong.  So provided I pass the remaining seven modules of my course I will be departing on the 4th October- YAAAAAAY!

Off up north this weekend to be lovely H’s bridesmaid…so excited and happy that everything has settled down for her.

It’s times like this when you discover what/who matters the most.

Drum roll please…

Well it’s official…after much deliberation I have officially taken the plunge and decided to move to China!  I have enrolled and began my tefl course, I am busy teaching myself Mandarin (Ni hao!) and I have informed my family, friends and colleagues of my departure date (November!).  So there is no turning back…I’m signed up for a year but instinct tells me it may be much longer before I return to England.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

arm668mukesh-in-a-yoga-position-posters.jpg

The temperature has dropped, the wind is icy and we are expecting snow across the country, no doubt causing everything to grind to a halt!  I love winter and those little white flakes but it does seem ludicrous that as a country, we are not equipped to cope with falls that are only a few inches deep.

Despite the chill outside, I am feeling rather warm and fuzzy (forgive me for the girly vocabulary) due to the prospect of seeing someone rather lovely, just when I need them the most.  Hurrah.  In addition, my renewed interest in Yoga has filled me with a sense of calm and general wellbeing which was definitely needed!  It’s been a looong time since I practised Yoga and I had forgotten how effective it can be, in both a physical and emotional sense.  I’ll admit that originally I decided to join a Yoga class because it was the “trendy” thing to do at the time…think glamorous career-women converging in their lunch hour for a quick workout on their Matthew Williamson Yoga mats.  In reality my class consisted more of the the “WI types” getting together to discuss knitting whilst attempting to work off the extra pounds that had been gained during their latest bake sale.  But somehow it began to take effect and I was left nicely toned and relaxed which in turn meant I managed to stick with it more than other forms of exercise.  Anyway, after stumbling across a Hatha Yoga video on Youtube the other day I decided to give it another go and so far I have managed to even get up early and do a short routine before work!  Combined with eating healthily, cutting out alcohol and making sure I spend time reading every day I am already beginning to feel like an improved version of myself.

Just goes to show that not making any resolutions really does work!

29th December 2007

So, it’s that time of year again; Christmas has been and gone and the 2008 is approaching with all the vigour of a dog hunting a fox.  I have to be truthful and confess that I usually hate this time of year because it always has a melancholy atmosphere that lends itself to a period of utterly selfish reflection but this year for me, it is different.  I feel quite upbeat and positive and I am ready to embrace the New Year and the opportunities it holds.  Where I would normally wallow in self-pity and chastise myself for not achieving all that I intended in the past year, I am instead satisfied with my accomplishments over the last 12 months especially as it cannot be denied that 2007 was a difficult year.
